After we reached Venice, we deposited our instruments and concert attire at Vivaldi's Church and then walked to the Gondola piers. We loaded up 11 gondolas for a fabulous tour of Venice and were amazed at the scenery and the skill and ease with which the gondoliers navigated the narrow canals.
We were disappointed to find that there are NO female gondoliers in Venice. Our gondolier told me it is "too hot and too hard" for women to do. Imagine how that went over with our girls!!
